Terms for using Tappex.

Agreement and eligibility

These Terms of Use form an agreement between you and Daniel Schwarz, the independent developer operating Tappex from Spain. They apply to the Tappex website, local applications, accounts, Pro services, and connected features. The Privacy Policy explains how personal data is handled.

You must be at least 16 and legally able to enter this agreement. If local law requires a higher age or parental authorization, that rule applies. Features marked “coming soon,” beta, preview, or experimental are not part of the paid service until they are made available to you.

Free and Pro

Free

Free provides local text and voice capture, local editing and archive, on-device transcription where supported, basic local search, standard export, platform sharing, manual Apple Reminders export, and optional end-to-end encrypted text sync. Local use does not require a Tappex account; enabling sync does. The initial sync allowance is 100 MiB of relay-retained ciphertext and three active approved devices per account. Audio recordings and attachments are not synced in protocol v1.

Pro

Pro requires an account and is intended to add five approved sync devices, supported integrations, routing rules, automation, AI-assisted analysis and research, intelligent daily review, and synced execution receipts. Integrations are released in phases and may vary by platform, provider, region, and provider API availability. Pro does not promise every possible integration, unlimited AI use, or a higher sync-storage allowance.

Every capture is committed locally before authentication, sync, AI, or an integration request begins. A network or provider failure should not prevent the original local capture from being saved.

Accounts and recovery

You are responsible for protecting your device, account session, approved-device keys, and printable recovery key. Do not share access tokens or recovery material. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

A new device may sign in but cannot sync until it is approved by an existing approved device or a supported recovery flow, and cannot use Pro AI without the required entitlement. Tappex does not hold your vault key or recovery key. If all approved devices and the recovery key are lost, encrypted vault data cannot be recovered by Tappex.

Subscriptions, renewal, and price

The initial reference price for Pro is €5 per month or €50 per year, localized by the storefront and inclusive or exclusive of taxes as shown before purchase. The annual option is one recurring annual subscription, not a guaranteed monthly installment price.

Subscriptions automatically renew for the same period until canceled through the store or payment provider used for purchase. Before you confirm a purchase, the checkout must show the current price, billing period, included features, AI allowance, renewal terms, and any trial or introductory conditions. Store terms may control billing timing, family sharing, refunds, and price-change consent.

Canceling stops future renewal but normally leaves Pro available until the paid period ends. Deleting a Tappex account does not automatically cancel a subscription billed by Apple or Google. You must also cancel it with that store.

Mandatory consumer rights, including any applicable right of withdrawal, remain available. The checkout and purchase confirmation will explain how to exercise them. Refund requests for store purchases are handled by that store, subject to applicable law.

AI credits

Pro includes a monthly AI-credit allowance shared by cloud analysis, daily review, and research. Routine analysis uses fewer credits than research with web search. The exact allowance and per-action charge are shown in the product before purchase or use.

Credits are a service-usage unit, not money, stored value, cryptocurrency, or provider tokens. Included credits do not roll over, cannot be transferred or redeemed for cash, and renew with the monthly allowance period. If available, additional credit packs will use a platform-compliant purchase flow and show their own expiry or refund terms before purchase.

When credits are exhausted, cloud AI and AI-dependent routing pause. Local capture, local notes, export, encrypted text sync within its fair-use allowance, and other available on-device features continue.

When Pro ends

Tappex provides a 24-hour grace period for Pro-only services after entitlement expiry unless the billing provider reports a longer paid grace period. After grace ends:

• cloud AI, connected cloud automations, intelligent review, the five-device allowance, and other Pro-only benefits stop;
• basic encrypted text sync continues under the Free fair-use allowance; if more than three devices are approved, you choose which three continue syncing;
• notes already on each device remain locally readable and editable; and
• standard export remains available.

Pro cancellation does not start deletion of encrypted relay data. Active sync data remains subject to the normal account quota, compaction, and deletion policies.

Your content

You retain ownership of your captures and AI results you save. You give Tappex only the limited permission needed to encrypt, transmit, store, process, and return data as required for features you request. Tappex does not acquire a license to advertise with your content or train a general model on it.

You are responsible for having the right to capture, upload, or route content and for complying with laws and third-party obligations that apply to it. Do not use Tappex to unlawfully process another person’s confidential or personal information.

AI and integrations

AI output can be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or ambiguous. Review important dates, recurrence, destinations, citations, and external actions. Tappex may propose an action without executing it. Actions that delete or modify external data, spend money, send messages, publish content, change permissions, invite people, or have unresolved required fields require confirmation unless applicable product rules prohibit the action entirely.

When you instruct Tappex to create a private note, reminder, calendar item, Linear issue, or similar object, the authorized device may execute it without an additional prompt if your explicit instruction or rule contains the required details. Tappex does not provide two-way management of the created object unless a feature expressly says otherwise.

Third-party integrations are governed by the provider’s terms and may change, rate-limit, fail, or become unavailable. Tappex is not responsible for a provider’s service, but this does not limit rights you have against Tappex under mandatory law.

Acceptable use

You may not abuse Tappex, bypass quotas or access controls, extract or misuse service credentials, interfere with other users, probe systems without written authorization, automate requests in a way that harms the service, violate provider terms, or use Tappex for unlawful, deceptive, infringing, or harmful activity.

You may inspect and use documented interoperability and export features. Nothing in these terms restricts rights to reverse engineer that cannot lawfully be waived.

Availability and changes

Local capture is designed to work without the network. Sync, AI, subscriptions, downloads, and integrations depend on networks and providers and may be interrupted for security, maintenance, abuse prevention, legal requirements, or circumstances outside reasonable control.

We may improve, replace, or discontinue a feature. If a material change reduces a paid service during a current subscription period, we will provide notice and any remedy required by applicable law. We will not remove access to local notes merely because Pro ends.

Suspension and termination

We may limit or suspend service when reasonably necessary to address security, fraud, non-payment, serious abuse, legal requirements, or material breach of these terms. Where practical and lawful, we will explain the reason and offer a way to appeal. Termination does not remove rights or obligations that arose before termination.

You may stop using Free at any time. You may cancel Pro through the relevant billing provider and may separately delete your Tappex account.

Service responsibility

Tappex is provided with reasonable care and skill. Because software and third-party services can fail, keep appropriate exports or backups for critical data. We do not promise uninterrupted service, perfect AI output, or compatibility with every device or provider.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability, guarantees, remedies, or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded. Subject to those mandatory rights, Tappex is not responsible for indirect losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you agreed to these terms, or for failures caused solely by a third-party service or event outside reasonable control.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer, you also retain mandatory protections and court rights provided by the law of your country of residence. Before starting a formal dispute, contact daniels@tappex.app so we can try to resolve it.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms to reflect product, provider, security, or legal changes. We will publish the new effective date and give reasonable advance notice of material changes when required. Changes do not retroactively remove rights you already have.
